Background

4D Products were approached by Enrich Education to design and develop a Quidditch Goal to be used with their school based sports program. The design brief was to take the project from initial concept development right through to manufacture.

Prototyping and Testing

Due to the batch quantity required, a number of standard parts were incorporated to reduce the production set up costs. After exploring a range of designs, including an inflatable version, CNC machining and 3D printing techniques were used to prototype the preferred design. We built several units and supplied them to the customer to undertake field tests.

Final Product

Following the successful prototyping and testing of the product, 4D Products identified an injection moulding facility in China who were contracted to manufacture and assemble the product. 4D continued to provide manufacturing support, including liaising with the factory, and providing technical files and input as necessary.

The initial set of production samples were put to test with a number of training sessions, including one involving the Everton Football team. The Quidditch Hoops are now on sale and are being used in schools throughout the UK!
