Remsdaq have a long and proud history of developing and supplying innovative electronic solutions into various industrial sectors. When they needed an Electronic Enclosure, 4D Products were commissioned to design the enclosures for a range of door access control products.

Various levels of access control were to be considered, from simple proximity sensing, to RFI keycards, through to pin number variants. The client developed the complex electronics and software in house, so a close collaboration was required between both parties.

The team followed our proven approach to product development, presenting a range of innovative ideas for client review and consideration. Through the review process, a preferred design direction was agreed upon, which formed the basis of the technical  / 3D CAD development work.

The enclosure would be a mass produced product with IP65 weatherproofing required. Space was at a premium, so whilst Remsdaq miniaturised and reduced the number of PCBs, 4D concentrated on the mechanical and aesthetic considerations.

A large part of the visual effect of the product is its large colour changing perimeter light band, which gives visual feedback to the user. A wide range of light pipe designs was considered and tested using sophisticated software, allowing Remsdaq and 4D to find the design with the highest % of light dispersion from the internal LEDs.

With the base model designed, a range of variants were also designed, allowing the unit to be fitted in a range of scenarios.

4D supplied a range of prototypes and large scale computer visuals over the course of the project, which Remsdaq used to promote the new product at various trade shows.
