Smart Kitchen Scale – Nutrioscale

Background

NutrioScale approached 4D Products to design and develop a smart kitchen scale that uses Computer Vision/AI to identify food and record its weight on a smartphone app so that fitness and longevity enthusiasts, dieters and diabetics can keep track of their calories and macronutrients.

The product requirements included stylish, easy to operate and compact whilst being low cost and efficient to manufacture. The enclosure would need to house a camera lens, load cells and additional electronic components.

The client wanted to create a visually appealing design through the use of conceptual design, 3D CAD development to create stunning photorealistic renders to share with market research focus groups.

Design Development

With a design direction selected and feedback from the client, we took the design from a concept sketch into a virtual 3D Model.

Prototype Development and Testing 

The prototyping phase helped us to prove principles quickly whilst experimenting with the overall fit and function. The prototype iterations enabled us to move quickly through the design process ensuring the client had the perfect working prototypes for the show.

Rendering

The 3D CAD model was then taken into our rendering software to create stunning photo realistic renders and product animation.
