Background

We believe in redefining design boundaries, excelling in industrial product design. And our latest collaboration with Fueltek, a titan in the fuel management arena, is a testament to this philosophy.

Tasked with the creation of a handle attachment for the acclaimed Data Nozzle monitor, our team embarked on a journey to blend ergonomic brilliance with functional design.

Concept Design: Balancing Aesthetics with Function

Our creative process began with a deep dive into the essence of Fueltek’s existing product. The challenge was to design a ‘torch-like’ handle that wasn’t just an add-on but a seamless extension of the Data Nozzle monitor. It needed to feel natural in the user’s hand, almost intuitive, enabling effortless operation in the demanding world of commercial transport.

We explored a multitude of designs, each paying homage to the sleek and robust nature of the existing enclosure. Fueltek’s engagement in selecting the features ensured that the end product was not just a tool, but a bespoke solution tailored to their specific needs.

Design Development: Precision Meets Innovation

Our design ethos revolves around precision. Utilising the existing 3D data of the enclosure, we meticulously sculpted a handle that would not only fit flawlessly but enhance the overall user experience.

This phase was marked by a collaborative spirit, engaging with suppliers early to ensure feasibility and cost-effectiveness without compromising on quality. The synergy of our product designers with cutting-edge 3D modelling technology exemplified our commitment to pushing the limits of what’s possible.

Prototyping & Small Batch Production: The Crucible of Innovation

Transitioning from concept to reality, we employed Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) to create prototypes that embodied our vision. This stage was crucial – it was where design met tangible experience. Testing and refining the prototype was not just a process but a journey of discovery, ensuring every aspect of the handle met our stringent standards of ergonomics and durability.

Following this, we moved into small batch production using CNC technology, a process that allowed us to maintain the precision and quality necessary for such a bespoke product.
