The 4D Process:
The project began with a comprehensive review of the product and its functicinal requirements, leading directly to a defined design specification. To ensure the most effectr effective use of space, the internal components were strategically rearranged, optimising the layout for both functionality and safety. This optimised internal assembly became the foundation for the exterior, which was designed to be a user-friendly, inviting, and eye-catching enclosure. The primary goal was to create a design that would instil confidence in the user and encourage them to embrace this new approach to hand cleaning.
Initial concept designs were developed through sketching, informed by a detailed study of anthropometric data and ergonomics to identify the ideal form factor. Stakehol Stakeholder buy-in was crucial at this early stage, therefore all concepts were reviewed ved and feedback was incorporated to refine the design. The final design was translated into a detailed 3D CAD assembly from which two sets of parts were manufactured. Using a combination of rapid prototyping and precision machining and finished with high-quality paint, the prototypes achieved the lock and feel of a production-ready product.
