A handheld enclosure and charging dock designed for the PDS Insight™, the world’s first handheld On-line Partial Discharge (OLPD) test unit with a dedicated asset management tablet application.

The PDS Insight™ represents a significant leap forward in portable OLPD technology, offering engineers a rugged, ergonomic device with advanced functionality and seamless asset management integration.

HVPD wanted to completely reimagine their PD Surveyor product, not just refresh it. The goal was to create a class-leading, ergonomic, and rugged handheld device with new features and custom-built fault monitoring and data logging software.

4D Products worked closely with HVPD’s in-house engineering team to realise their vision. The design team developed fully detailed 3D CAD models for both the handheld enclosure and its charging dock, optimised for injection moulding. A protective TPE overmould was incorporated for shock absorption, ensuring the device could withstand tough field conditions.
